It might be a wise idea to bring out all of the winter wear sooner than later, and prepare to bundle up for the long haul. Temperatures will get progressively cooler as fall rolls on. The environment will not be consistently cold all winter, but a rush of arctic air will persist for quite some time.  Despite colder than normal temperatures, the good news is that precipitation will be very limited in the west central region, while other areas of the prairies will see average amounts of snowfall.  These cooler conditions will set in in a few weeks time. The air will also be dryer than average in November. January and February will be the months when we will see the coolest temperatures and the absolute least amounts of precipitation.
