The historic city of Venice, Italy will implement a small fee of about €10 for tourists beginning in January 2023. Its part of an effort to combat heavy tourism and help with restoration costs. In 2019, approximately 20 million people travelled to Venice. The city which is home to around only 55,000 residents is also facing issues with rising water levels and aging buildings.
