Girls that love baseball, who might be looking for more of an avenue into the sport they love, should be very excited for some upcoming events that will look to get more engagement from the sports female population.

Three different online events are set for this weekend focusing on scorers training, baseball administration and leadership, and a coaching initiation clinic. The free scorers demonstration is set for Saturday May 15th, with the other two set for a day later on May 16th.

INTERMEDIATE SCORERS TRAINING MODULE FOR WOMEN

On May 15th, an Intermediate Scorers Training Module for women only will be held for free online.

Aileen Hartman, Vice Chair of Baseball Canada’s Scorers Committee will be leading the training that will take place in a virtual environment, as she offers a wealth of scoring knowledge developed over the years through her interest in baseball as a player, parent and administrator with St. Albert Minor Baseball in Alberta.

Her most recent accomplishment saw her co-authoring and producing the Scorers Manual which will act as the guideline for scorers appointed to future Baseball Canada National Championships. According to the release this comprehensive manual provides instruction and training from basic to experienced levels and includes instruction for use of the electronic scoring app GameChanger, the official scoring software for Baseball Canada’s National Championships.

Hartmans goals are to continue on and improve as a scorer, and mentor other interested people into the same challenge. She hopes to one day work as a scorer at an international baseball event.

This event is calling on all women in the game of baseball!

WOMEN’S ONLY – COACH INITIATION ONLINE CLINIC

Starting at 4 pm Saskatchewan time on May 16th, interested and willing female coaches will have the opportunity to learn from a very credible source.

According to the event release, Ashley Stephenson has been involved with the Canadian Women’s National Baseball team since its inception 2004. She is very passionate about baseball and played for many years before transitioning into coaching. She is the most passionate about getting women and girls involved in the game.

They feel that one way to get more women in the game can be to try it from a coaching perspective, evidenced by these new female only coaching clinics taking place online. The course is roughly four hours long, and all fees are covered as interested females will sign up through the Baseball Canada website (link to the coaching platform can be found on the Baseball Canada website).

It should be noted that once a coach joins, they will need to complete the two initiation modules before they are able to join the event. The Initiation module and Fundamental module should take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
