Graduation is a time to say goodbye. On June 27, 2019, the Rosetown Central High School grade 12 class said goodbye for the last time. Goodbye to the place and the people that saw them grow and helped shape them into the young adults they walked out as.

The 2019 graduating class was the 30th class to graduate from RCHS and had 44 students leave the building armed with diplomas. The Graduation Ceremony took place in the RCHS gymnasium and began at 7:30pm.

Zach Gillis and Megan Wenzel were the evenings Masters of Ceremonies. The program began with the singing of O Canada by Shayna Fehr and Brenna Dolan. Guest speakers included the Superintendent of Education, Guy Tétrault, Member of Parliment, Kelly Block and former teacher Brodie Cuff.

Each year, the graduating class collectively chooses a special guest to deliver a speech to the graduates and audience alike. Mr. Cuff was this years guest speaker chosen by the students. Cuff was a teacher at the school for most the graduates time at RCHS. He began his high school career as a teacher as they began theirs as students.

“Our guest speaker was Mr. Brody Cuff, he taught us from grades 7-11 and he did a really cool speech that tied into our theme of ‘Oh the Places You’ll Go,’” reported Shayna Fehr, one the classes valedictorians.

"It was an honour for sure," said Cuff on being asked to speak, "I was happy to be back at the school to see the kids and like I said in my speech, we all started there in 2013 so they're a pretty special group."

Fehr delivered the valedictory speech along with fellow classmate, Zach Gillis. Fehr calculated that the pair spent about 14 hours working on their speech. The speech was funny and touching at the same time and managed to include a little bit about each of the 44 graduates.

“It was a very long day but also a very good day,” said Fehr, adding, “It still doesn’t feel real; it’ll be weird come fall when I don’t see the kids I grew up with everyday anymore.”

Fehr is heading to Abbotsford, British Columbia in the fall to attend Columbia Bible College.
