Last weekend saw eager motorists flock to Rosetown’s Sports Grounds to take part in the Tough Trucks Competition.

As the final event of Rosetown’s Harvest Family Festival, the event brought the town together one last time to watch a collection of modified vehicles compete for the best time on a small dirt track filled with potholes and large bumps.

Amanda Bors, the coordinator for Tough Trucks, explained that people were able to use more than just their own trucks.

“We’ve had all sorts of vehicles. Anythng from SUVs, trucks, to full custom buggies that people build to bring down, so it’s kind of whatever they find laying around that they can get to start for the Tough Trucks.

Bors said that, while they tried to book it for the event, they were unable to get a hold of the Saskatchewan Rush monster truck. A tradition at the Tough Trucks competition is the Big Air contest, which is simply the vehicle that makes the largest jump receives a special prize.

Bors also shared what she believed to be the reason why the Tough Trucks competition is so popular in Rosetown.

“I think it’s something that everyone can enjoy, from the young kids, right up to the grandparents. The trucks and the track are different every year; we always do something new. So you just never know what your going to get, and I think the Big Air prize is usually the best, the crowd favourite.”

In a weekend filled with countless sights and sounds, the Tough Trucks competition was a fun way to close the door on the Rosetown Harvest Family Festival for another year.
