After countless hours of fundraising, and donations from all over the Kerrobert and surrounding areas, the west central community got their new Zamboni back on September 7. The machine cost over $115,000 and through generous donations from people and businesses in Kerrobert and area, they actually managed to raise more than the sum needed for the new Zamboni, something Kerrobert Recreation Director Bobbi Hebron was completely blown away with.

“The crazy thing, and the heartwarming thing is, since we reached our total, we've had six more people, individuals and companies call to offer to donate, so we've actually exceeded it. Some choosing to donate regardless for future work that has to be done and some that are saying, you know what I'll catch you on the next project.”

Six people, plus Trey and Jonathon from Fer-Marc Equipment Ltd, who specialize in designing Zambonis, were there for the delivery of the new Zamboni. Hebron said Jonathon was in awe with just how many people came out to celebrate the new machine.

“When Jon from Fer-Marc came out, he said it's so heartwarming to see all the people that showed up to celebrate the machine arriving. They don't see that in the cities when they purchased a new machine and it was just wonderful. He's never had that many people show up to help him unload.”

Hebron wanted to thank all of the people and businesses who donated to the project, and is looking forward to put the Zamboni to good use.

“It's a great way to start the season, and the Zamboni is one thing, but it is the community that came together to donate for it. To go above and beyond $115,000 in less than a year is just remarkable.”
