September 3rd is the official start of the new school year, and will see as many as 190,000 students returning to class all around the province.

Teachers and school divisions have spent the summer break preparing for this new year, and with more than 770 schools across 27 divisions in the province, that may not be as simple of a task as it might seem.

While many students often complain about having to go back to school, they are often excited to be reunited with friends that they may not have spent much time with over the summer break. While they may say otherwise, they are also excited for new learning opportunities that may spark a new passion within them.

“I know firsthand how excited kids are at this time of year as they head back to school, or begin school for the first time” Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant said. “I know many parents and educators who are eager to begin a new school year too and it is important that we all do our part to keep our students safe as they travel to and from school.”

The type of education one receives quite literally shapes their future, so many parents will also be excited to see their children head back to school to develop the skills that will help them to discover the kind of person that they will grow up to become.

A new school year can mean a variety of different things for the returning students. It means a new set of challenges to overcome, and skills to develop. Saying hello to new friends, and goodbye to old ones. While nobody can predict where a child will be heading in life, a proper education is all they need to start heading down the right direction.
