The U13 West Central Wheat Kings were border-kings over the weekend playing a tournament in Lloydminster.

The Wheat Kings opened up play on Friday night with a 6-2 win against the Grande Prairie Storm. The next game on Saturday afternoon was a high-scoring 8-6 loss to the Saskatoon Kodiaks, and then on Saturday night the Wheat Kings won 5-3 over the Strathcona Warriors.

The 2-1 round-robin record led them into a semi-final matchup early Sunday morning, and the Wheat Kings won to place themselves in the finals against the Saskatoon Mission. Unfortunately the team was unable to return home golden, claiming a silver medal ahead of the trip back to west-central Saskatchewan.

The Wheat Kings won't be back to regular season action until February.
