Ancient Echoes Interpretive Centre is nestled at the junction of the Coalmine Ravine and Eagle Creek near Herschel Saskatchewan. A little gem of history about a half hour away from Rosetown.

Brittany Gilchrist is the Executive Director at Ancient Echoes. Gilchrist holds a Bachelors degree in history and has always been interested in small town museums and preserving those stories.

Currently on exhibit at Ancient Echos is the travelling exhibit, Big Bert. Big Bert is the worlds best preserved and most complete Terminonaris Robusta-or crocodile, skeleton. The name Terminonaris means: “enlarged snout or nose” at the front of the skull.

Big Bert is believed to be about 92 million years old. He is close to 19 feet long and his skull is more than one metre long.

Big Bert lived in Saskatchewan when much of the province was covered in water, as part of the Western Interior Seaway. He was discovered along the banks of the Carrot River in the Pasquia Hills in 1991 by paleontologist Tim Tokaryk.
