Kindersley’s Dakota Buttar now holds the number one spot in Canadian bull riding after earning himself another event win in St. Tite, Quebec.

Buttar inched closer to his first 90-point ride of the season at the PBR Canada event as he went two-for-two and securing first place and the event’s high-point ride.

In round one, the Kindersley cowboy outlasted the buzzer atop Vegas Fun for an 87-point ride to take the early lead for the event.

In the championship round, Buttar continued to showcase his skill as he drew Hookasauraus and once again lasted the eight-seconds and earned the event-high scoring ride of 88 points.

The win awarded Buttar 350 Canadian points and 60 world points, which allowed him to overtake Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage and claim the first rank in the Canadian national standings. Parsonage now trails Buttar in the standings by 205.01 points.

Buttar’s rise to the number one spot in Canada has been nothing short of dedication and tenacity as a shoulder injury almost brought Buttar’s season to an abrupt stop in April.

A shoulder injury coming out of a Billings, MT, event had Buttar in the doctor’s office with what could have been, season-ending news. However, the Kindersley bull rider said in an earlier interview that his doctor cleared him to ride, therefore he forged ahead. His first event back from injury was on Canadian soil on June 8, where he took his first event win of the season.

Since coming off of the injury, Buttar has rode his way to countless event wins and top five finishes, which has catapulted him to the top of the Canadian leader board.

Buttar has also remained within the top 35 bull riders in the world as he is currently ranked number 30, with just a handful of weeks left to go before the world finals in Las Vegas this November.

With Buttar holding down the top Canadian spot, it will likely be a busy November, as the PBR Canadian Finals will be held in Saskatoon November 22-23, 2019.
