The low loonie has many Saskatchewanians exploring other options than the caribbean or Europe for their next trip.

More and more Canadians are embracing the possibility of travel within the ranges of the Canadian border -embracing tourism on both a national and local scale.

The low, low fares of New Leaf Travel discount airlines are expected to boost local tourism by offering flights to seven national airports -including those of Saskatoon and Regina.

West Jet airlines -which started as a low budget discount airline much like New Leaf -is embracing the competition to find ways to lower the prices on fares and flights.

However, CFO of West Jet Harry Taylor announced the affordability of West Jet prices will not come at the cost of the consumer -unlike New Leaf's.

New Leaf Travel is able to offer discount fares, but adds an extra $25 dollar charge of each bag checked and charges extra for boarding pass printouts at $10 dollars a piece.

West Jet claims the supplementary costs will come from extra charges associated with improving the traveler's flight experience.
