UPDATE: Friday, Nov 18 2022

It's the final week for one of the most heartwarming campaigns in West Central Saskatchewan. Cozy Up and Care has been going strong since mid-October and will finish up next Saturday. Country 104.9 morning show host Aaron Harle will be live on location from 1-2 at Murlin Electronics to help with a final push on the 24th. Food Mesh of Kindersley was kind enough to share a video of recent donations and below is a list of items you can donate now until the 26th.

The colder weather is here and one of our favourite promotions is heating up. Cozy Up and Care is an initiative where folks can donate their clean and gently used winter clothing to help keep everyone warm during the winter months. The annual event started back up on October 17th and runs until November 26th.

As usual, the Cozy Up and Care bin is set up at Murlin Electronics in Kindersley. Donation pickups are done on a weekly basis and are carried out by Barbe Dunn who completed a pickup last week and was thrilled with the generosity thus far.

“I was just like wow. The generosity is just amazing because its just really started and with the weather being nice people just don’t think about it and now with the weather becoming winter, I think that we’re going to probably see an increase again. People are just so generous.”

Donations were plentiful for the first pickup and varied from both adult and children's clothing Dunn said, but touched on some items that may get overlooked.

"If people want to be aware of it, there’s a lot of guys that are working in the oil patch and they don’t have adequate clothing. It certainly doesn’t have to be perfect because it’s going to get oil and junk on them, but they’re looking for gloves, work boots, heavy jackets, that kind of thing.”

Dunn continued to say how great it is when a community comes together and helps out with initiatives like this.

“We have so many rich resources and when we are starting to work more and more together, we’re getting less people falling through the cracks and this Cozy Up and Care is absolutely huge.”

While winter clothing is welcomed, other outdoor wear and non perishable food items will also be accepted.
