It was recently announced that country artists Dallas Smith and Mackenzie Porter will be performing on this year’s CPKC Holiday Train.

They will be on the Moose Jaw trip, as looking at Wilkie and Macklin's stops on December 6,  'Anyway Gang' will be on stage.

For Smith, this will be his fourth or fifth time taking part on the holiday train.

“It’s something that I will do until they tell me I’m not allowed to do anymore. It’s a great experience. You get to see a lot of the country and we see some amazing views from those tracks that people don’t get to see normally,” he said.

Originally from British Columbia, Smith has had 27 of his country singles crack the top 10. He’s a JUNO award winner, a three-time CCMA Entertainer of the Year and 2022’s CCMA Male Artist of the Year and the Fans’ Choice award winner.

He said that the enthusiastic crowds that meet them at every stop is one of his favourite parts when it comes to performing on the Holiday Train.

“Every day, when that train pulls up and the stage goes down, you’re greeted by sometimes 20 or a couple dozen kids. Sometimes it’s hundreds, sometimes it’s thousands of kids. It’s like their kick-off to Christmas and seeing that joy and that happiness every time you open that stage up, it just fills your soul big time,” he said.

Smith will be joined by Porter, who was raised in Medicine Hat but is currently based in Nashville. She is the first female artist to have three consecutive number-one singles on Canadian country radio in 22 years.
