Darien Lynch has been working as Trainer/ Equipment manager for the Kindersley Klippers and was about to enter his fifth year on the job. Now, he will be making the jump from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League to the American Hockey League as he was hired by the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.

Lynch will be working as the teams Assistant Equipment Manager and will leave for Manitoba at the end of August.

In July, Lynch had travelled to the Winnipeg Jets Development Camp, there he had been helping. When the camp had wrapped up, Lynch was offered a position with the Manitoba Moose. He said he was on cloud nine when he had received the news, “I’m really excited and happy to be able to work with an organization such as the AHL”

“I’ll miss the community, there was a lot of good supports that came in over the years. Obviously, I’ll miss the boys in the locker room. It’s gonna be a big change, we’ve built some strong relationships over the years. It’s gonna be sad to see them moving on without me.”

Lynch’s job with the Moose will involve tasks such as picking up equipment for the visiting teams, prepare their dressing rooms, and helping out the teams with all they need while in town.

The position differs from his job with the Klippers as he had been in charge of ordering equipment needed for the players, tending to their injuries and helping out with their rehabilitation.

Before his job with the Klippers, Lynch had been working in the oilfield after getting a degree in kinesiology. He had heard about the position with the Klippers and was told that he’d be a good fit for the job, from there the rest is history.

“I had the medical knowledge, but not much equipment managing knowledge or anything like that. I just had to learn everything as I went.” Now, four years later Lynch will be the Assistant Equipment Manager of the Manitoba Moose.
