The smattering of rain that’s fallen on Saskatchewan in May has done little to quell the volatile conditions as far as grass and brush fires grow. Around the Victoria Day Weekend, numerous RMs and communities joined their counterparts in announcing fire bans.

For these areas, no fire pits or open fires are allowed. No fireworks are permitted. Propane fueled fire bowls or barbecues with a shut off valve are permitted in most locations. Check with the RM office.

Showers forecast for later in the week may provide some relief. To check with the latest updates, head to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency website page on Community Fire Bans to access up to date maps.

The only RMs in West Central that don't have a fire ban at this time are Chesterfield #261, Milden #286, Milton #292, Winslow #319, and Biggar #347.
