Students in Eatonia had taken part in a water balloon event on May 26th to raise money for the Fort McMurray relief. The students were able to purchase a water balloon for $1.00 and throw them at members of the school's staff.

Eaton School's principal Craig Vanthuyne commented on how the event was popular among the eager students. "It was a real fun way to raise money for a great cause," said Vanthuyne. "We raised a total of $821 for the Red Cross, and everyone had a great time."

Staff and students reacted quickly to organize an event in the wake of the fires which engulfed the majority of Fort McMurray and surrounding area. "Our Student Representative Council is quite active with fundraising for various causes. So as soon as the Fort McMurray tragedy happened, it was one of the first things on the list for our Student Representative Council."

The school hosted a bake sale and BBQ as well with the money added to the total collected amount.
