The Fertile Valley Baseball League has been off to strong start this year with the regular season calendar now flipped over to June.

Eatonia taking on Rosetown in a recent matchup means every team has now played at least one game this year.

The league seems to be competitive so far, which is a good sign for FVBL Commissioner Ryan Wickett after losing a couple teams.

The Eston Ramblers moved south to the Coteau Hills Baseball League, and the Leader Expos were all set to make their return to senior baseball before deciding to wait another year. Wickett gave the full rundown.

"Lost Eston, they decided that they were going to jump into a league from the south. We had Leader, they put a team together for the first time in a while which was great." said Wickett before explaining the situation for Leader. "We had initially scheduled them in, but once they saw the schedule, they maybe thought they couldn't quite make it work with the group they had this year. They are optimistic for next year that they can hopefully come back in and get a group together. That will be interesting for league play."

Even if they couldn't make it in this year, Wickett was happy to see the community of Leader working towards and FVBL comeback.

Speaking of coming back to the FVBL, Wickett commented on the Kindersley Stallions return to the fold.

"Another team too, the Stallions have decided to come back from the NSRBL, just due to a couple of teams up north who aren't around anymore. Their travel was going to be a little more, so it's nice to have them back in our group."
