Kindersley residents Barry Andrew and Scott Holloway, who are with Men’s Action Plan, are getting set for their Fill the Shelves Food Drive. It is set to begin this Saturday at 1 pm in the Town of Kindersley, with residents asked to put their non-perishable food items on their doorsteps or driveway for pick up.

Andrew talked to West Central Online, and says he was very happy with the volunteers who stepped forward.

“It’s gone really well. The volunteers have stepped up, and we have had an overwhelming amount of volunteers asking to help out, which is terrific,” Andrew said.

“I had more than 50 people reach out, but I wouldn’t have had enough route assignments for those 50 people so I had to cut it off before then. We’ve good 33 soldiers hitting the streets on Saturday picking up food,” he added.

Andrew also said he was encouraged by the help and people really care about the their neighbours and their friends in the community.

“I think all of us in one way or another look for an opportunity to help support the people during these times, and that’s what this is, an opportunity for the community to rally together and support the people that are struggling through this situation, no fault of their own,” Andrew concluded.
