Flatlanders Speedway was back in action this past weekend after the races originally scheduled for the Goose Festival weekend on Sunday took place this past Saturday. Flatlanders organizer Jason Hankewich was happy to get the cars and trucks back out on the track after it flooded two years ago and it forced the track to be moved just north from that location. The races brought out around 100 racing fans on Saturday with cars, trucks, and demonstration cars in action in the afternoon and early evening. With the location of the track being temporarily moved without lights the races had to start early in the afternoon at 1 pm.

Hankewich said about the lights, “It is a project for the off season along with painting and what he had setup worked for now and we just wanted to get a few races under our belt and try to be back up and going.”

He also stated that he is really excited and happy how the track held up this weekend and it should be a smooth transition to the new track for next season. The races for next season are planning to start next June or early July at the new location according to Hankewich.
