The forecast for this weekend is calling for temperatures in the 30s and sunny skies. So, for the provincial government to name this upcoming weekend as free fishing weekend is simply good timing.

The annual weekend summer event will be taking place on July 8th and 9th this year and allows both residents and visitors to fish on Saskatchewan's public waters without a fishing license.

It is an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to take in a popular Saskatchewan summer activity while enjoying the outdoors. But, people taking advantage of the event will need to follow certain regulations while casting their fishing rods.

The Ministry of Environment will be enforcing other regulations throughout the weekend, including possession limits and reduced limits on some lakes and rivers, as they remain in effect. In addition, free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks, and anyone taking fish out of Saskatchewan must purchase a licence.
