July 2nd through 10th is Canada's National Fishing Week. In conjunction with that, Saskatchewan's free fishing weekend is this July 9th and 10th. February 13th to 15th, 2017 is the free fishing weekend in the winter season. Normally, a three-day fishing licence costs Saskatchewan residents just under $15.

Fishing in West Central Saskatchewan

“Sport fishing is a popular outdoor activity enjoyed throughout our province,” said Environment Minister Herb Cox.

“Free fishing weekend is an excellent opportunity for families, friends, residents and visitors of all ages to experience summer fishing in Saskatchewan’s beautiful environment.”

Sask Parks is hoping the annual free fishing weekend will get people out to provincial parks and interested in fishing.

Please be advised:

-Regular angling limits and all other sport fishing laws remain in effect.

-The free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks.

-Anyone planning to take fish out of the province must buy a license.

-Anglers in Lac La Ronge must have a free endorsement, available at local merchants.
