The Government of Saskatchewan has released a detailed breakdown of all COVID-19 cases reported in the province throughout the month of August.

Throughout the month, a total of 4,596 new cases were reported;

  • 793 (17.3%) of those were residents aged 11 or younger.
  • 3,416 (74.3%) of the new cases were among those unvaccinated,
  • 424 (9.2%) were among those with one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and;
  • 756 (16.4%) were among those fully vaccinated.

In August, 189 individuals were hospitalized;

  • 136 (72%) were unvaccinated,
  • 14 (7.4%) were partially vaccinated, and;
  • 39 (20.6%) were fully vaccinated.

There were a total of 41 ICU admissions as well throughout the month;

  • 31 (75.6%) were unvaccinated,
  • 2 (4.9%) were partially vaccinated, and;
  • 8 (19.5%) were fully vaccinated. Six of the eight fully vaccinated individuals in ICU were over the age of 60, and four had pre-existing health conditions.

And finally, 22 Saskatchewan residents passed away due to COVID-19 in August;

  • 12 (54.5%) were unvaccinated,
  • 1 (4.5%) was partially vaccinated, and;
  • 9 (40.9%) were fully vaccinated. Eight of the nine were over the age of 60.
