The following are highlights from the first official bi-weekly meeting for the newly elected council held at the Town Administrative Office on Monday:

  • Council directed Administration to propose some revisions to the Zoning Bylaw concerning single portable signs used to advertise privately owned businesses on the property. The changes will specify the licensing regulations and allow for annual license fees to be waived if the requirements are met.

  • Council approved the purchase of replacement equipment for the audio system in the West Central Events Centre Arena. The new system will be purchased from Barndog Productions and will cost up to $34,000, using the Recreation Reserve fund.

  • Council also asked that a report on the status of the pool be brought to the next official Town Council meeting, and that a member of the Pool Fundraising Committee be invited to speak in front of Council, or a letter be presented at the meeting on November 28th.

  • Council agreed upon a resolution to take out all mentions to the Carver System of Governance in the Kindersley Council Governance Manual. This update would make the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) the only employee of Council, and establish Council’s ability to form bylaws, policies, and budgets for Kindersley.

  • Councillors Dean Galbraith, Gary Becker, and Randy Ervine were named as the members of the new Industrial Area Review Committee. The purpose of the committee would be to review the industrial area, work on figuring out the estimated cost of any upgrades to the area’s infrastructure, and report back to Council.
