Frequent storms, inclement weather and construction had a larger than usual audience visit the Highway Hotline looking to get the latest updates.
The new look Highway Hotline received 10.6 million visits last year which is above the average from past years. While still a large number, it didn't top the record from the previous year which saw 13 million people visit the site.
Introduced in November of 2022, people can download the mobile version of the Highway Hotline on their Apple and Android phones for easy access. Since the launch in the late fall, more than 100,000 people have downloaded the app.
A large volume of visits were a result of the late April storm which closed highways in the province's southwest and southeast regions.
