The highly anticipated Garth Brooks concert weekend wrapped up Saturday night from Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
The thunder literally rolled on Friday night as fans had to wait approximately two hours for the concert to get underway as Mother Nature poured rain into the stadium. Despite the wait, there was a silver lining as concert-goers had a performance of a lifetime when Garth performed "Thunder Rolls" with lightening dancing in the background, making for an even more memorable experience for the close to 40,000 fans.
Saturday night, the weather couldn't have been better and the stadium was packed for round two of what can only be describe
d as, The Garth Brooks Experience. The show brought out fans of all ages and die-hard fandom. Even those who may not have grown up listening to Garth, said the show was phenomenal."I only knew maybe one or two songs and country music isn't usually my go-to but, he killed it, it was an awesome show and definitely gave me a new found respect for Garth Brooks. He seems like a genuinely good guy and it's obvious he loves what he does and was having a good time up there," said Josh Hood, a newly recruited Garth Brooks fan.
For many of the songs, the crowd knew and sang every word and the choir that was Garth's fans, lit up the stadium with their cell phones during his performance of "The River", turning Mosaic Stadium into a twinkling light show.
One of the lucky listeners that won Garth Brooks tickets with Country 104, Holly Kurysh, had this to say about the concert and Garth himself.
Holly was seated next to me and we both shared the excitement of seeing Garth Brooks on stage and in being apart of the energy that ensues when he delivers a performance. I do have to apologize to Holly however for belting out the lyrics to every song I knew (which was all of them), while she was video taping - I certainly hope you can not hear me in the background of your recorded memories of the concert!
Holly was also kind enough to lean over during Garth's performance of "The Dance", to ask if I needed a tissue - I assured her "I just had something in my eye". Knowing that wasn't true at all, we joined the sway of the crowd as the nostalgia took over.
For many, myself included, the concert checked off a box on the bucket list and did so in the greatest way, making it a concert that will never be forgotten.
