Last week we covered a few local fire departments attending a firefighting demo in Rosetown.

Rosetown Fire Deputy Chief Brett Herbert was part of the team responsible for hosting the special day of first-hand learning.

"We hosted a Level 2 heavy-vehicle extrication course. That is part of the T-Rex program developed by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, and funded by SGI to provide training to fire departments in vehicle extrication across the province."

The day featured four members from the Elrose Fire Department and Ambulance, and five members from Kindersley Fire alongside Rosetown Fire as hosts. Herbert said it was a great day of learning, and also a good chance for the local fire departments to work together.

Even though it would take quite the blaze to get these teams together, familiarity can always be important.

"Never know when you will need their help. Good to know the team and how they work."

The 20 hours of hard training was put on by TransCare Rescue out of Langham.
