Starting today, locals from the surrounding Kindersley area are coming together for the annual Music Festival. Over 300 students come to town for the two week event, with some students coming from Eatonia, Marengo, Oyen and Dodsland.

At 9:30 a.m. the festival will begin with the vocal classes, and at 7:00 p.m. there will be a musical theater at the Norman Ritchie Center. Tuesday, March 8th is Coral speaking, which is held in Eatonia but is also apart of the Kindersley Music Festival.

March 9th, 10th and 11th will be the piano showcase, all taking place at the Norman Ritchie Center.

Starting in the second week of the festival on March 14th, percussion will take place at St. Paul's United Church at 9:00 a.m. All instrumental showcases including strings, will take place from the 15th to the 17th.

Organizer with the Music Festival Pam Sawatzky, mentioned that on Friday March 18th at 7:00 p.m. the festival will close up with a celebration of all the scholarship recipients.

With the large quantities of public attending and students participating, the annual festival is looking for some volunteers. Sawatzky commented that she has been contacting parents to help with the festival, but would like to have other members from the community helping as well.

"We've been phoning parents who have offered to volunteer, but we would love to have volunteers from other aspect from of the community. Anybody who is interested in music, you could be the secretary of the section coordinator."
