Preparations for the 2017-2018 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season continue as the Kindersley Klippers play three games in as many nights.

In their battle last night against the Notre Dame Hounds, the game was tied 1-1 after Jordan Funk was able to equalize in front of the net after a point shot from defenseman Tate Page.

Despite a close opening frame, the Klippers were unable to find the back of the net for the rest of the match as the Hounds would cruise to a 4-1 win.

Tonight, the Klippers will be put to the test as they travel to the Battlefords to take on the defending SJHL champions -- the Battlefords North Stars.

Not only are the North Stars coming off a tremendous campaign where they represented the SJHL in the Western Canada Cup, but they were able to handle the Klippers with ease during the 2016-2017 season. The North Stars managed to defeat the Klippers in every single matchup last season while outscoring them significantly 54-12.

For the Klippers, they will be looking to wipe the slate clean for the 2017-2018 year by defeating their rivals in these pre-season showdowns. Winning these tune-up games won't contribute to their points total in the regular season, but may finally help them remove the heavy weight felt on their shoulders as they try to end an agonizing losing streak.

Tomorrow night, it will be Kindersley's turn to host a pre-season game as both the Klippers and North Stars travel to the West Central Events Centre (WCEC).

Tyler Orr, Assistant General Manager and Business Operations for the Klippers, is encouraging fans to come cheer on the boys and have an early look at the team's opening day lineup.

"It'll be the first chance to see some guys that have come back," said Orr. "We'd love to have people come out to the exhibition game and see some of our younger players, draft picks, and big guys we have brought in."

Opening faceoff for tomorrow's game is 7:30 PM at the WCEC in Kindersley.
