The latest popularity numbers suggest the Saskatchewan Party's ratings are dropping while the NDP's are rising.

According to a poll conducted by Mainstreet/Postmedia, the Saskatchewan Party have dropped to 40 per cent voter support, a 7 point decrease from the previous results. The New Democrats of Saskatchewan have seen a 7 point increase to 49 per cent support from the poll.

Mainstreet gathered a random sample of 2,000 residents during mid-May to be part of the project with demographic and geographic information from targets based on the 2016 Census.

Although, there is a difference from the urban centres and residential areas when comparing responses from the poll.

The three graphs on the top indicate party support in Regina, Saskatoon, and the rest of the province. The chart below demonstrates overall support in the province. (image courtesy of Mainstreet/Postmedia)

According to the results, areas outside of the urban centres (Saskatoon and Regina) were deadlocked at 46 per cent support for both the provincial NDP and Saskatchewan Party. In Regina, NDP support has skyrocketed to 58 per cent, whereas Saskatchewan Party have fallen to 29 per cent in the provincial capital.

Support between the two parties is a little closer in Saskatoon with the NDP at 46 per cent and Saskatchewan Party four points below. The provincial Liberals and Green Party both sit below 10 per cent in each category included from the polling results.

A statement released by the research company discusses how the numbers could be a reflection of the population's opinion on the latest provincial budget. Despite support being equal for the two parties outside of the province's two major centres, political analysts are considering this result to be concerning for Premier Brad Wall and his party members. The Saskatchewan Party have been able to maintain strong support in rural communities for years.

Recently, Premier Wall had a chance to share his thoughts on the results from the poll on his Facebook page. This is what he stated to his followers:
