The North Saskatchewan River Baseball League kicked off its first week of the modified summer season on Sunday with the Standard Hill Lakers taking on the Meadow Lake Sox.

The Lakers knocked off the Sox 7-1 to officially open the NSRBL season. Action continued last night as the two Battlefords area teams played each other. The Battlefords Trappers knocked off their counterparts, the North Battleford Beavers, 4-1. In other action, the Standard Hill Lakers went to 2-0 on the young season, knocking off the Mervin Flyers 10-1 in Mervin on Tuesday evening. 

And in an all Unity match up, the Unity Sr. Cardinals beat the the Unity Jr. Cardinals by a score of 7-1 up in Unity last night. As for the Stallions, their game against the Border City Blue Jays was rained out and will be played at a later date.

The action in the NSRBL is slated to continue tonight, weather permitting, as the Lloydminster Twins are scheduled to play the Unity Jr. Cardinals in Unity at 7:30 pm. Two more games are on the schedule on Thursday night, as the Mervin Flyers will head southeast to take on the Battlefords Trappers, and the Kindersley Stallions will try again, as they will play host to the Lloydminster Twins. First pitch for both games on Thursday is 7:30 pm.
