The oil and gas industry is continuing to keep busy here in the west-central region.

We talked to Rosetown-Elrose MLA and Energy and Resources Minister Jim Reiter about drilling activity in the area.

“I think it's getting better. Obviously, we've been concerned. I think there's several reasons. Obviously, it's an industry that's always price sensitive, but it's no secret our provincial governments had some challenges with the federal government who are far from being oil and gas friendly. But I think common sense is slowly starting to prevail and I think things are looking up for the industry.”

WestCentralOnline reached out to Reiter following the latest public offering for oil and gas in the province. Kindersley received acceptable bids for two leases in the area, generating one of the highest bids in the province for a lease located northeast of Dodsland.

Ten drilling rigs were active in the latest edition of news from the oil patch. Find that, and more from the recent public offering in the related stories section below.
