The Town of Kindersley is seeing some key work being done at the local arena. With the ice out, workers having been taking out the old refrigeration equipment at the West Central Events Centre, set to be replaced by newer equipment as part of a "lifecycle upgrade".

Back in 2023, the WCEC was included as part of the more than $19.7 million in joint funding for 25 infrastructure projects across the province. Benefits of the project will include increased energy efficiency, making the rink a greener and self-sustaining facility. Other energy efficient changes to the arena saw them replacing leaky exterior doors and converting to LED lighting throughout the facility.

Director of Community Services for the Town of Kindersley Kelly Skotnitsky said the timeline of the project moving forward mostly depends on the new equipment's delivery. The WCEC was closed on Monday and Tuesday this week as they removed the old equipment.

This was included in the Town of Kindersley's latest E-update. Check it out in full HERE.
