The Fertile Valley Baseball League has now completed it's 2019 regular season. According to league rules all the teams in the 'A' Division will advance, and the top 6 teams in the 'B' division will advance to the post season. In the 'B' Division the top two teams will receive a by for the first round of the play-offs.

Sitting comfortably at the top of the 'B' Division is the 'Kinderlsey Cubs' in first, and the 'Outlook River Hawks' in second place.

Brent Larwood is a player on the Outlook River Hawks, and after reflecting on the season he and the team believe their success at bat has lead to their second place finish this season.

"We were talking about it the other night," Brent said. "Our batting. Many of us hadn't played in a long time, so we dedicated some more time to that. We've been picking the ball up a lot better this year. Out pitching has been consistent, no new pitchers in the rotation, but it's just been great. When we click it's hard to shut down, but when one things goes it does get exploited. It's been awesome."

2019 marked the years second season since their return to the league. Brent said the support the team has received from the community hasn't slumped at all, the magic of an inaugural season hasn't been lost in the teams support. The success of the minor program in Outlook is also contributing to the River Hawks support.

"Just as good, or maybe more supportive then last year. More people are hearing about it. Out minor ball program is growing a lot, and those parents are becoming more interested in baseball. They're hoping to see a long term plan for their kids to play. That's been the biggest thing, more kids coming out, more kids playing on the diamonds on the same nights as us."

The growth in the league has also not got unnoticed. There is now early talk beginning about another league. There are a few communities thinking about forming teams for next year, and travel times with in the fertile valley baseball league can get a little long.

The Fertile Valley Baseball League play-off schedule should be set by the end of this week.
