It was a hugely successful end to the high school wrestling season for Outlook's Taebyn Tulp. It was Taebyn’s first year of eligibility for high school provincials in the sport of wrestling and she was eager to put her hard work and dedication to the sport to the test.

As a grade 9 student, it was Taebyn’s first year of eligibility for high school provincials in the sport of wrestling and she was eager to put her hard work and dedication to the sport to the test. As the first place seed coming out of Regionals finals in the Ladies 53 KG weight category, she earned a bye to start off the provincial tournament. Her road to the final was steady as she won her first match, controlling the scoring and ending it with a pin shortly into the second period.

Saturday would see three matches for Tulp and with the first match of the day, Taebyn dominated her opponent throughout the first period, earning herself three big four-point throws to tech her opponent. In the semi-final cross-overs, Tulp had a tougher opponent but was able to rely on her training to control the match, opening it up in the second period and once again winning by technical decision, ensuring her a berth in the final against Jayda Baker from Regina.

The final match was a test of strength with the entire first three-minute period consisting of fast hand-fighting as the two wrestlers struggled to find an opening to set up an offence. In the end, with just over a minute left in the second period, Baker found the opening she was looking for and was able to get the best of Taebyn, working in for the pin.

Taebyn walked off the mat with a provincial silver medal.
