Several jurisdictions across Canada recorded their lowest number of new cases of COVID-19 in months today, and Saskatchewan clearly decided not to be left out. The Central West zone wasn't left out of that good news either.

There was still some tough news today, however, as the Saskatchewan Health Authority reported one patient who tested positive for the virus has died. This person was in their 70s and was a resident of the Central East zone.

The SHA also reported just 86 new cases of the virus today for a provincial total of 46,834. There were also 181 recoveries to report today for a total of 45,022. With another sharp decline in active cases, there are now 1272 cases of COVID-19 considered active in Saskatchewan, including just 14 in the Central West zone.

Hospitalizations due to the virus remain stagnant from yesterday, with 108 people still needing treatment. Of those, 23 people require intensive care. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 134.

Today's new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 1; Far North East, 1; North West, 4; North Central, 13; North East, 2; Saskatoon, 26; Central East, 4; Regina, 11; South West, 7; South Central, 13; and South East, 1. There are three more cases with pending residence information.

Yesterday, the province processed 1719 COVID-19 tests. There were also 5,304 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered for a total of 730,952. 66 percent of Saskatchewan's population age 18 or over has received their first dose. Anyone who received AstraZeneca as a first dose is eligible to receive a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine for their second dose if that is your preference.
