Rosetown’s Keagan Crossman is currently ranked number one by the Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) for novice saddle bronc. The 19 year old farm boy ended his high school rodeo career only three points shy of becoming the Canadian High School Saddle Bronc Riding Champion. He has taken part in 22 rodeos so far this year and has earned himself over $1,600.00 and four buckles.

“That’s pretty darn good if I do say so myself,” said Crossman, who lives on a farm near Rosetown with his mom and dad and younger brother and sister; who are also involved in the rodeo scene.

Crossman recently competed in the Outlook CCA Riverbank Rodeo where he was able to hold onto his top position in saddle bronc. His younger brother, Carsan, who is currently ranked sixth in novice bull riding and ninth in junior steer riding is his usual travel companion.

The cowboy, who has seen his fair share of injuries outside of the arena, has luckily not received much more than what his mom Carla calls, his regular weekly bumps and hoof shaped bruises that come with the territory. He did mention though, that he had cracked his shin bone in two spots from competing in the sport.

Crossman will be travelling to Swift Current in October for the CCA finals and after that, he plans get into the rodeo circuit in Vermilion where he is set to study Western Ranch and Cow Horse.
