West Central Online spoke to Rosetown-Elrose MLA and Minister of Energy and Resources Jim Reiter about 2022 and what to expect in 2023.

One of the main highlights of 2022 was the Cabinet shuffle according to Mr. Reiter. He is also looking forward to continuing on as Minister of Energy and Resources in 2023.

“It’s been exciting, we were talking earlier about there's so much stuff going on. There's everything you'd expect, right? There's oil and gas, potash, uranium, there's forestry. But then there's all the new stuff coming along. There's helium and lithium. And rare earth minerals and so, it's an exciting time. Canada has a list of 31 critical minerals and 23 of them are in Saskatchewan, so we're very well positioned and we think we're going to be seeing some exciting developments in the next few years.”

Reiter also talked about 2023 and what he plans to do in office.

“There's a myriad of things that we deal with. My primary focus is getting the opportunity to represent the good people of the Rosetown-Elrose constituency, and we'll try to help them with their concerns, and that can be wide-ranging. That can be health, education, highways, you name it. That's my primary concern. And then I mentioned about the file I'm privileged to have in cabinet, the Energy and Resources file. There are all the things we had just talked about, and I'm going to do everything I can work really hard to advance Saskatchewan's interest.”
