Summer planning is just around the corner and SaskParks just announced this year's campsite reservation dates to help residents get a head start.

Seasonal camping books open on the first day of April, followed by nightly, camp-easy, and group campsites which can be reserved on April 2 through 9.

Minh Truong, director of park experiences with SaskParks, recommended individuals create an account ahead of launch days.

“Just take a look around, you can add favorites to your account so when you go to book, you have your list of favorites already set,” he said. “And if you're unable to get the campsites for the dates that you want, you always have other options. We know camping is a popular pastime; it's part of the DNA and culture of folks who live in Saskatchewan."

Reservations open at 7 a.m. each day, and sites can be reserved from March 16 through the summer months at any of the 23 provincial parks.

Saskatchewan Landing sites can be claimed on April 2, and Cypress Hills opens for booking on April 9.

Campers who enjoy heading off-grid and disconnecting from the world will enjoy the Porcupine Hills, which can be booked online for the first time since officially being a provincial park.

“There are so many options to choose from; we have parks all across the province,” said Truong.

As the camping season creeps closer, residents can watch the SaskParks website for park news and the reservation site to pick their favourite spots.
