The Eatonia Huskies and Maple Creek Hawks treated fans to a pair of one goal games over the weekend.
Game 1 saw a 3-3 score headed into the third, and then ten minutes of scoreless hockey to start the final frame eventually led to a Maple Creek goal to make it 4-3. But Jonathan Guidinger responded with the tying marker with under three minutes to go. and the teams stayed deadlocked for about ten minutes of overtime before Maple Creek sent their fans home happy with a win halfway through the extra frame.
Game 2 took place the next night in Eatonia in front of a packed house:
The Huskies opened the scoring as Turner Somerville scored on a feed from Quinton Somerville, but the game would end up tied at the break after a late Maple Creek goal.
Maple Creek would score two more times in the second, and then just when the Huskies were feeling the pressure they capitalized on a long powerplay as Ryan Adams scored twice to once again make it a 3-3 game headed into the third.
Eatonia's Ryan Adams (#2) stepped up big time to end the second period, scoring a pair of powerplay goals to send the game into the third tied up at 3-3The tight action continued in the third as fans were looking ahead to the thought of overtime, but luckily Taylen Solvberg scored the game winning goal with less than five minutes remaining as the Huskies hung on and tied the Best of 5 series up 1-1.
