After placing second at the PBR Canada event in Coronation, AB, Kindersley’s Dakota Buttar travelled south to Nashville, TN, claiming a top 10 finish in the final Major of the 2019 season.

With only four Major’s happening each year, bull riders have limited opportunities to capitalize on not only the unique format of the event, but the winner of each event is guaranteed a payout of $100,000 and a whopping 625 world points.

The Kindersley cowboy was the first rider to outlast the 8-second whistle in from of a record-setting crown in round 1 on Saturday night from Nashville. Buttar scored an 85.5 point ride and secured himself a spot in round 2 where he bested his first out, scoring 87.5 points and claimed a position in the top 8 and a spot in round 3.

Although he was bucked-off at 4.75 seconds in the third round, Buttar still advanced to the fourth round due to his standings in the aggregate.

With the optimism still alive for the Kindersley bull rider, he went into round 4 looking to once again outlast the 8-second timer, however, Buttar was not able to hold on and was bucked-off at 6.77 seconds, barely missing the buzzer.

Despite the round 4 buck-off, Buttar finished seventh at the Major, collecting $2221.62 and 55 world points, moving him from number 31 in the world rankings, to number 27.

The Nashville Major was Buttar’s 28th event for the 2019 season. Between events in both Canada and the United States, the Kindersley bull rider sits with a 52 per cent ride percentage with 38 successful rides of 73 attempts.
