The Kindersley Jr. Klippers made the announcement of the signing of Joel Stein last week.

The 2005 defenseman is looking forward to joining the big club, after playing for the Saskatoon Contacts in the SMAAAHL this past season.

I talked to the shutdown defenseman about joining the Kindersley Klippers in 2023-24.

"I think they are just a good organization in the SJHL, it's junior hockey. I'm excited to play that, it's my first big step playing continued hockey after high school," Stein said in a phone interview earlier this week.

Joining the team was the right thing to do for Stein, as he will playing close to home, as the defenseman was born in Saskatoon.

"They drafted me out of U15 so, I think it was the right to do in my mind. Stay kind of close to home, the SJHL is great place to play," Stein added.

Stein was also very appreciative of the welcome he received from the Klippers when he played with them earlier this year.

"When I went up there in December, everyone welcomed me in the locker room really well. So, I knew it was a great group of guys and a great organization."

Stein and Casey Brown will be new faces in the Klippers lineup next season.
