Playoffs are officially here looking at the senior hockey landscape in west-central Saskatchewan. In addition to the Week 13 edition of "SWHL This Week", Sask West Hockey League statistician Phil Heilman revealed the league's 3 Stars for the month of January.

"The SWHL this year is doing the 3 Stars of the Month, aiming to recognize outstanding performances in the league and highlight great talent and unsung heroes."

The First Star award went to SWHL all-time leading scorer Brock Harrison after he wrapped up another impressive regular season. Across eight games in January Harrison had 5 goals and 19 assists, good for 24 points total. Harrison is no-stranger to a multi-point effort, and it was shared that all but two of Harrison's games saw him pick up multiple assists.

"We’re at the point where there isn’t much more else to say about Brock and his playmaking abilities."

January's Second Star was Jeremy Boyer of the Hafford Hawks. Boyer was described as "a model of consistency", with seven goals in seven games in January, 18 points total.

"He had multi-point games in 6 of the 7 games, as well as suiting up in all 18 games for the Hawks this year. Jeremy has also been instrumental in helping Hafford secure 3rd place in the league."

The Third Star of January was Darian Dzuirzynski of the Edam 3 Stars. Edam's new addition has been scorching hot with nine goals, eight assists, and 17 points in his seven games played total.

"Not only did he have at least a point in every game, but he had at least a goal in every game. He has been a big catalyst for the 3 Stars, helping them rocket up the standings."

Honourable mentions for January went to Macklin's Spencer Bast, Hafford's Jorden Braid, and Wilkie's Jared Herle.
