The town of Rosetown will be taking over the Elks hall as of New Years day, 2017. Councillors approved details during the final town council meeting before the civic election on Monday the 17th of October. They will also acquire the old Wilson Agencies building across from the Prairie Center Credit Union. The Town and the Elks have been negotiating the transfer for several months. The town will pay only $1 for the hall as well as its lots, the Elks and Order of The Royal Purple will continue to hold their meetings and functions at the facilities, rent free, for a year.

The Wilson buildings on Main Street, which have been taken over for non payment of taxes, are located on connected lots and the town will advertise the building as being for sale, in hopes of netting a potential buyer to the vacant building. Prospective buyers will be advised, the first time the building goes up for sale, that the price may not be lower than the amount of taxes owing.

Councillor Hugh Lees suggested that prospective buyers should be required to submit and business plan for it and fellow Councillors all agreed.
