The Unity Community Centre recently held a special skating competition. But it wasn’t your everyday skating event, as the Battle of the Blades took place in Unity. The Battle of the Blades is a competition which has has figure skaters from the Unity Skating Club and gentleman who used to, or still, play hockey.

Colleen Smith organized the event, and talked about what the competition was all about and explained it was a good time.

Smith went on to talk about how the competitors, particularly the men, felt after practising their routines.

She also talked about what the skaters had to prepare for.

Smith also added what the ice skaters had to do for the Battle.

The Battle of the Blades was a fundraiser for the Unity Skating Club and Smith was very happy with the turnout and everyone who was involved.

Smith concluded saying this is the second time the Battle of the Blades took place and also mentioned it won’t be back on for a few years.
