It’s been a busy couple of weeks for volleyball in the West Central region. The North West Central School Jr. girls team has been playing very well and they continued their superb play this past weekend by winning districts for the third time in four years in Davidson. It has been a very successful year for the girls team with victories at sectionals in Plenty, winning the Jr. girls tournament in Rosetown and winning their home tournament as well earlier on this season.

The Sr. Girls will be heading off to conference championships in Shaunavon this weekend after a good season of their own including wins at their home tournament and bronze in the Outlook tournament earlier on this season. The girls have their first game against Biggar at 9 am Saturday morning and then will play Eston at noon. Eatonia and Beechy will be there as well to bring up the total of West Central teams to five.

In junior boys action the West Central junior boys volleyball district championships were held in Lucky Lake last Saturday. In a four team draw that included Biggar, Davidson, Eston, and host Lucky Lake the Eston Composite School Mustangs came out on top beating Davidson in the final game. Lucky Lake finished 3rd and Biggar finished in 4th to round up the tournament.

In other action the Dinsmore/Elrose senior boys volleyball team hosted their annual tournament on Saturday. After the Round robin Kindersley finished with a 5-1 record, Dinsmore/Elrose was 4-2, Rosetown was 3-3 and Biggar was 0-6.

In an upset Biggar defeated Kindersley in 3 sets to move on to the finals. Dinsmore/Elrose defeated Rosetown in 2 sets to play Biggar in the finals. Dinsmore/Elrose came out on top of their home tournament with a 2-0 over Biggar to take the championship.

In Senior girls the Unity Warriors senior A team will be heading to Kindersley for conference play downs this weekend to see who will move on to provincials for girls volleyball. Unity will be joined by Rosetown, Delisle, Dalmeny, and the host Kindersley. The tournament is set to start at 9 am Saturday morning with Rosetown playing Kindersley. Unity will play Delisle right after at 10 am.
