Bantam AA Wheat Kings

The West Central Bantam AA Wheat Kings have finally won this past weekend in Saskatchewan AA Hockey League action. The Bantam AA Wheat Kings were 0-20 heading into to their game against the Estevan AA Bruins after losing on Friday to the Weyburn Whitecap Wings by a score of 10-5.

West Central got out to a 2-1 lead on goals by Carter Ralston and Ty Partington. Estevan tied the score and it looked like it would stay that way after two. But Karson Blanchette, the leading scorer for the team, scored a power play goal with a minute left to give the Wheat Kings the lead heading into the third period.

Blanchette made it 4-2 just over a minute into the third, but the Bruins answered just over a minute later so the Wheat Kings had to hold on. They did just that, and got their first win of the season by the 4-3 score.

Next action for the Bantam AA Wheat Kings is a home game in Kerrobert on Sunday afternoon against the Prince Albert Pirates at 3 pm from the Kerrobert Memorial Arena.

 Pee Wee AA Wheat Kings

The West Central Pee Wee AA Wheat Kings took their unbeaten record into the weekend for a pair of games on the schedule. The Wheat Kings 14 game win streak came to an end in the Battlefords on Friday as the team tied the Battlefords Barons at 1. Cobe Perlinger scored the lone goal for West Central in the tie game.

The Wheat Kings then were on the ice for a home game in Unity against the Warman Wildcats on Sunday. The squad came out fast and lead 4-1 after 20 minutes and 5-2 after the second period. West Central then scored 5 in the third to run away with the game by a final score of 10-4.

Pryce Thiessen continued his scoring ways with a hat trick and 1 helper in the win and Cole Reschny continued his strong season with a 4 point outing as well. Reschny continues to lead the league in scoring with 71 points in 16 games played. Thiessen sits in 3rd with 37 goals and 59 points in 16 games for West Central.

The Pee Wee AA Wheat Kings will hit the road for three days starting in Humboldt Friday night in the first of two games against the Pee Wee AA Broncos. West Central will finish their weekend in Melfort against the AA Mustangs on Sunday at 10:45 am.
