Westberry School put together quite the Monday to help close out the month of May.

The Kindersley elementary school held another successful night of virtual bingo, and supper was an easy decision! Partnering with Panago Pizza in Kindersley, anyone who ordered a pizza using the code PANA15 was able to score themselves a deal, with Panago later donating 15% of the net orders from the day back to the school.

Westberry School principal Katilyn Gibbons shared more about the day, beginning with just how much they raised.

"For bingo, we raised $2000 through our prize raffle." began Gibbons. "We haven't heard back from Panago yet on how they did, but it was a very successful fundraiser."

The bingo night partnership isn't something new.

"During COVID when we were shutdown, we were trying to find ways to engage with families. We started this online bingo and prize raffle, had really good feedback from families that they enjoyed their time at home, spending time with their family. We have continued with it since then, made it a pizza party night with the online bingo and prize raffles."

Bingo is the activity that brings everyone together, and the prizes help make things extra exciting.

"We handed out raffle prizes throughout the night, that's where we made the $2000." said Gibbons. "Our community is amazing, they are so supportive and generous to our school. We had lots of prizes donated, and had 95 families participating online."

Continuing on with community support, Gibbons shared one more massive fundraiser the school recently completed.

"We recently just finished our Family Foods Fundraiser as well. We were selling gift cards to Family Foods, and we brought in $54,000 in sales. 11% of those proceeds will be donated back to the school." said Gibbons as that money will go towards projects such as their outdoor classroom, construction starting on that soon."

Bingo wasn't the final event to end May, with playday for the students coming up on Friday, May 31. Nineteen jam-packed days are still left on the school calendar, and you can expect a June breakdown from Gibbons as the calendar turns.
