On June 17th, the Wheatland Regional Library is celebrating a very important milestone of 50 years of service. All officials with a founding branch of the library will be partaking in the festivities come Saturday.

The big celebration will be taking place at the town hall in Herschel and is happening the same day as the Canada 150 program at Ancient Echoes Interpretive Centre.

Throughout the day, there will be a barbecue, games and entertainer, a bouncy castle as well as the Super Ron comical magic show.

"We wanted to make sure we did something special to celebrate our 50th birthday" Lavonne Wiens, who chairs the Herschel branch board, spoke about the celebration.

One of the reasons the events are circled on the same day of the calendar, is strictly because people from Herschel were the ones who initially organized what became Wheatland. Many people in the town have been a part of the organization for several years, and are looking to celebrate the country's birthday.
