Winter is on the way, and along with Old man winter comes the desire to escape on a warm weather holiday.

Dr. Torr, Chief Medical Officer of the Heartland Health Region has some tips for those who wish to stay healthy while on an exotic vacation.

Proper precautions include getting the recommended vaccinations particular to the region you plan to visit.  Depending on your type of

vacation, whether it be a resort or rugged terrain, ensure you have all the proper supplies necessary in order to enjoy yourself to the fullest.

In order to enjoy a comfortable flight, Dr. Torr also recommends eating light before settling in to fly over a long period of time, to avoid alcohol

consumption and to get a good night's sleep before your journey.

Once at your vacation spot, Dr. Torr advises eating and drinking within the resort area in order to avoid food-related illnesses, and to also

be aware of the various insects which can spread disease, such as malaria.
