The Rosetown Angels Senior men’s ball team hit the road to Davidson for The 2019 Provincial Championship this past weekend. The four team tournament provided The Angels competition from the host team, The Central Sask Cannons, The North East Red Sox, and The Meadow Lake White Sox.

It was a good start to the weekend for the Angels who hit the diamond Friday at 3pm to Face The North East Red Sox. Game one saw the Angels take the Red Sox with a score of 8-6.

Day two of the tournament started out a little rough for The Angels who faced The Central Sask Cannons. Game two went to the host team who won with a score of 12-1.

Game three took place on Saturday where things turned around for The Angels.

Angels team manager, Ryan Wickett explained, “Game three was kind of a must win situation for us and we were able to pull out a win against The Meadow Lake White Sox by a few runs.”

Sunday morning found the Angels in a tie-breaker game where they went up against the North East Red Sox for a second time.

Adam Johb hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th inning aiding The Angels in their third win of the weekend and taking them into the final game.

The Angels came up against The Central Sask Cannons again for the final. Wickett said they played a good defensive game with good pitching and pulled off a 4-1 win making them Provincial Champions.

It was a great way to end the season for The Angels, “I’ve played ball for 20 years in Rosetown this was the first title with them so it was pretty exciting to be able to that, shared Wickett.
